snow white, you look pale...

At the end of July I was given the task to design a snow white for a short film project. This collage doesn't contain the final version. I also worked on a psychiatrist, because the film deals with what's AFTER "they lived happily ever after". But in the end we didn't really need a design for him.
The film will enter a Brothers Grimm Competition in the end of august.

good clean-up day

If there are bad hair days, do "good clean-up days" also exist?
It's like my brush strokes magically do exactly, what I want them to. Together with my friends from animation school, we are working on a TOP SECRET short film project! ;-) So the last few days I've been animating and today while working on the clean-up, instead of making hundreds of short lines, I just quickly move my hand a few times and then there it is, a wonderful expressive and accurate line. Maybe it's because of Chris Oately's advise "try to accomplish your work in one stroke in stead of using ten"

waddle waddle waddle

Hi folks!
I had some very nice holidays, so I couldn't post any new pictures. But here I go again!
Shortly before holidays, I was in the city and had some time left. I went to the Jungfernstieg in Hamburg where I wanted to read a bit. But that day lots of people decided to feed the swans and gooses and ducks that always swim around there. So I armed myself with my sketchbook and later on, at home, I added some water color.
Additionally, it was my brother-in-law's birthday and I painted a parrot, acrylics on canvas, for him (because he likes parrots, obviously). I used a reference from the great animal photgrapher Andrew Zuckermann. I wish I had more patience (and time), so I could have added more detail... Practice increases patience!

The iridiscent turquoise I used on some spots reflects the light wonderfully

back to the roots

I always loved cartoon. I started with Dinsey and lots of other american cartoons (plus japanese cartoons, only I didn't know they came from Japan back then) and later I was addicted to Anime because of Sailor Moon. Back then I wanted to become Mangaka, a japanese Comic Artist. When I saw that Manga-style is not very profitable in Germany, I studied communications design and hoped to get rid of any cartoon style. Then I went to animation school and got allover cartoony again... So this piece of art was just a test if I could draw something in Sailor Moon Series style. I feel a bit melancholic about it, because it reminds me so much of my youth. And I like it very much, because I had a great time with cartoons and my cartoon loving friends! :)

Moods

As the owner of "The Art of Brave" by Disney * Pixar I got inspired by the beautiful pencil drawings by Steve Pilcher. So I decided to practice my pencil skills. The outcome is a beginning. I still have to do more learning, practicing and practicing and learning. And I cheated with Photoshop to create more depth :p

Logo-Time

A friend asked me to make a logo for the day-care-center she works in. A few things were predetermined, such as the cross and 3 little birds. I also had a picture of the bird, which I adapted and improved. The final and approved one is above, accompanied by some earlier variations.

The Zoo

Last weekend I went to the Zoo with my family. It was the first time for my little niece. Poor girl suffered a bit from stimulus satiation... Whereas I had my sketchbook with me and suffered from lazyness. At least it resulted in one useful page ;-P

I especially put effort in the flamingos, as you can see ;)

This special animal is a peal.Or a sug. A crazy crossover anyway.
