Even here in northern Hamburg summer has arrived. That's a reason for me to pick some summer-sparkling-sea drawings. Enjoy the sun, everybody!

In this case, it only follows appearance ;-)
Oftentimes when seeing female fantasy character designs, the most important parts, which ought to be protected in order to survive a harsh fight, are left open to show more skin. Or there's an overload of metal, weapon and stuff, that should make it impossible for the character to move.

Nonetheless it looks great, so I made a sketch, searching for some nice shapes. I'm planning on colouring it digitally soon.

Stayin' home, ...

... doing some drawings. My big sketchbook will stay at home now, so I can take along a smaller one that won't be too noticable. More on-the-road-sketches to come!

 

I created some bird charakters for fun. A penguin and a duckling/chick. I like the waddling penguin <3 My boyfriend helped me overcoming the deep mudhole and even inspired me for a character. Such a darling! :3

creative hole

Good evening!
Lately I've been having the feeling of being stuck in a creative (mud-) hole. I am sketching a lot, but nothing really satisfies me. I guess I have to take my time and work on one image properly to satisfy myself!

My lovely boyfriend saw my alter ego, the pug, and asked why it was in a hole. He said "It needs to be outside and chase some ducks!" So it climbed out, when it had a glimpse of inspiration (although not in an incarnation of a "blue bird", only a duck...but it's getting there)!

As I am working on a web-animation for my friend with the tree-animal-advertisement, I stumbled over the collection of animal drawings I've promised to show once (upon a time).

I'm back!

Sorry for not posting so long...I have been quite busy. I moved to hamburg where animation school started. It's very interesting: we watch lots of movies and get to know all the (animation-studio-) backgrounds. Analizing is one of our main activities, apart from drawing of course. Drawing courses sometimes freak me out because now I have to face all the weaknesses. It's like being at the dentist and he's giving you a root canal treatment - you know it's necessary but the procedure is aweful. So let's all hope my drawings will improve :)
At the moment though I don't have the feeling of improving. Still I believe: Time will tell!
My sketchbook doesn't offer much, unfortunately (apart from jobs and projects that are under construction and cannot be shown in public yet), so you'll have to deal with this random fantasy character. I was thinking about learning more about game design lately. This is only the first step. Some influences 'n stuff. You know. Daaah~

Black

The TV was running in the background. When I had a glimpse I saw a small, slimy chameleon-baby for the first time, climbing on a tree. So I made a little black one, because normally they are really colorful.
And when I was reading a friend's manga today, about a devilish butler, I wanted to draw a little devilboy.
The tree on the right side is a  possible sketch for a Japanese Restaurant in Mayence. It's supposed to be a cherry tree, so it needs lots of refinement! I was primarily searching for a way of blending it in.
As it seems I am living in the future for I wrote the wrong date in the corner :-P

funny animals

So here I go again, showing animals again :-) I've been looking for tatto-motives lately because my boyfriend is thinking of getting inked! There were some very cool styles that inspired me and lead to todays sketches. For the pug I had photo-references.

I went to the bookfair in Leipzig with a friend. It was a very nice trip to eastern Germany, culminating in visiting the zoo for further drawing practising. These are two examples of nice animals that remained very still so I had enough time sketching them ;-P

Ok, this one isnt't from Leipzig. But there's a Kitty in it!
For years I've been wanting to watch the Hellboy Movies and never made it. In february I watched them the first time, once with my boyfriend and a few days later on free-TV and on blue-ray, which my brother bought. I like Hellboy's face very much so I tried to catch it while watching the movie.

Bologna Children's Bookfair

I visited the children's bookfair on monday and tuesday and showed my portfolio to several editors. It went quite well, I guess! I collected so many identity cards and now I have to send a whole bunch of online portfolios to publishers all over the world :3
On the fair there was a lot to see, so many beautiful books! It was very inspiring. I even got to buy some books, which made me really happy:

In the evenings I went back to my hotel. I felt really uncomfortable in the room I got. Sure, I could afford it and it was near the fair, but to a creative person the environment is very important, too... so I tried to concentrate on drawing. At least this one turned out quite nice:

before I started studying communications design in Mayence I participated in a course that helped me creating a portfolio for my application. It was called the talentstudio. Now that I finished I was asked to draw a placard showing a famil tree. I added some small animals. In the End it was printed in Din A1, quite big. I'll try to post a foto of the printed version soon!
