Owl Tattoo

In autumn a colleague approached me, asking, if I could design her a cute female owl as cover-up tattoo. She had two designs in mind and wondered if I could make a combination of both. I drew two sketches which she liked instantly. It was unclear which colors the tattoo would have in the end, so I made a black and white illustration.
The tattoo came out really nicely. Only the reflections in the eyes are missing. Still I am quite happy about my first tattoo design on skin!

Halloween

Here's a quick inktober sketch of our black cat Luna. Today she reminded a little vampire! She is such a wonderful inspiration.

Inktober

This year I decided to take part in "inktober". I don't have time to draw every day, but when there's time, I really enjoy using black ink with a brush and add some colored ink. Many years ago I used to draw with ink quite a lot.
So far, these are my results:

Sporty sketch

This summer a lot of my friends went climbing. I tagged along two times to watch them and sketch a bit of the stony environment. The sport looked more interesting than I'd imagined, so I decided to try it myself. It was a bit frightening to me, but it was also exciting. And the best thing about it: it didn't hurt my tennis elbow! I still have that condition in my arms from three years back and couldn't do any sport without feeling that I was hurting or overstraining my arms. So now I hope to get better and strengthen my arms again!

Another very nice side effect: Whenever we go to the indoor climbing hall, I take my sketchbook with me, because there are so many people, perspectives and movements. People are concentrated most of the time, so they don't notice me sketching. For a certain reason I haven't figured out yet, the guys tend to wear no shirts, which means muscle studies for me :)

Get well

A week ago a dear collegue got sick and we were a bit worried. So after work I sat down and painted some flowers really quickly (2 hours). The next day I had my co-workers sign the picture (which was funny, because they all had trouble writing with the wacom tablet) and we sent an email with the digital flower bouquet to the poor sick one. I pointed out that the flowers did not need watering :-)

Bodies

In January I was very happy because of the figure drawing sessions I visited. I tried out my new water color crayons from caran d'ache, using them like pencils first. I actually wanted to see what happens when I add water, but then the drawings were so satisfying to me, that I didn't want to ruin them. The crayons have a very soft feeling when drawing, which works really well with lines as well as shading.
